I thought this was a joke, but no. Police in Flint, Michigan are trying to enforce a law that fines wearers of sagging trousers. This is proactive policing at its finest. Borderline racist, and totally friggin' crazy. The only thing positive that came out of this whole thing is that someone actually made an awesome infographic to show how the law works. http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080708/NEWS06/307080009
Another brilliant album by the Austrian maestro Perov Stelar (a.k.a. Marcus Füreder). This is one of the best tracks on the album Shine. What is it with Vienna and really kick ass DJs?
Good Bye Emily Feat. Gabriella Hanninen by Parov Stelar
From their new album The Devil, You + Me. This track sounds a lot of The Radio Dept. – melodic and somewhat indie. It's a bit of a departure from Neon Golden.
Cool iPhone apps so far:
1. Pandora – kicks much balls. Although it's only good in WiFi hotspots, it's still a very cool, portable, streaming music source nonetheless.
2. AIM – finally. The interface is nice. It's a step up from using Beejive's Web app.
3. Remote – now I can use the phone to control my spare laptop as my TV and stereo system through iTunes. Sweet.
4. Bloomberg – fancy financial app. A step up from the standard Stocks app that comes with the iPhone.
5. Loopt – cool location-aware social networking app. Great interface, hooked up to Yelp. Very nice.
Notice they are all free apps. I want to wait a few days for more user reviews before I commit to buying the premium apps. One app I would buy instantly would be a video recording one, but since they don't have it I will save my money. There are a few I downloaded but haven't a chance to try out. But the Apple App Store is looking fairly promising.
Well, it's not really Max Headroom, but a freakish "video pirate" incident that happened back in the 80s. Very strange.
[...]During a broadcast of the Dr. Who episode "Horror of Fang Rock" on WTTW Chicago Channel 11, on Sunday November 22nd, 1987, at around 11:15pm, a Video "Pirate" wearing a Max Headroom mask broke into the signal and transmitted one of the weirdest, unauthorized things ever to hit the Chicago airwaves.
Earlier in the evening on the same day, during the Nine O'Clock News on Channel 9 (Yes, a completely different channel) the Max Headroom Pirate also broke in - although it was for a much shorter time and there was no audio.
Needless to say, Dan Rohn (the sports reporter) was a bit flustered.
And no, he was never caught. [...]
