FOR PARENTS ONLY | Anthony Bourdain

I like NI HAO KAI LAN because my daughter loves it--and because any show that teaches her Mandarin is probably a good thing--preparing her for the day that this will be the language of our future masters. I like that Kai Lan's Granpa, "Ye-Ye" is always cooking dumplings. Not so crazy about Kai Lan's little friend Toli. He strikes me as a maladjusted, whining little shit--always acting out in hopes of getting special attention and sympathy.

Anthony Bourdain's long and hilarious analysis of children's TV programs.

Brian Duffy at the Chris Beetles gallery in London from 14 October until 7 November 2009

27 September 09: Take a first look at a collection of rarely-seen photographs by Brian Duffy, one of the key trio of photographers in London during the swinging 60s that included David Bailey and Terence Donovan.

The images, some of which have never been seen before, and which include shots of Michael Caine, Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Jean Shrimpton, are all that survive a fire in 1979, when Duffy set light to his own negatives. The exhibition, Duffy, will be at the Chris Beetles gallery in London from 14 October until 7 November 2009

New UN Resolution Aims at Nuclear-Free World

Filed at 10:07 a.m. ET

UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- With U.S. President Barack Obama presiding, the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved a resolution Thursday aimed at ridding the world of nuclear weapons.

Russia, China and developing nations supported the U.S.-sponsored measure, giving it global clout and strong political backing.

The resolution calls for stepped up efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, promote disarmament and ''reduce the risk of nuclear terrorism.''

Obama was the first American president to preside over a Security Council summit, gaveling the meeting into session and announcing that ''the draft resolution has been adopted unanimously.''

''The historic resolution we just adopted enshrines our shared commitment to a goal of a world without nuclear weapons,'' Obama said immediately after the vote. ''And it brings Security Council agreement on a broad framework for action to reduce nuclear dangers as we work toward that goal.''

Just one nuclear weapon set off in a major city could cause major destruction, Obama said.

He said the global effort would seek to ''lock down all vulnerable nuclear materials within four years.''

''This is not about singling out an individual nation,'' he said. ''International law is not an empty promise, and treaties must be enforced.''

''We will leave this meeting with renewed determination,'' Obama said.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon saluted the national leaders for joining in the unprecedented Security Council summit on nuclear arms.

''This is a historic moment, a moment offering a fresh start toward a new future,'' he said.

This is great, and Obama is definitely a uniter on many critical issues in the world today. I must wonder though about how UN will enforce this resolution? What kind of mechanism will it have in place to defend against a nuclear-capable nation/group? Can you really use a knife to fight a gun?

Progressive move here, but also a dangerous one the UN will need to proceed with extreme caution.

Revealed: Manchester United get more injury time when they need it

These "champions" need as much help as they can get, and it is exactly what they get – in the form of more added time at the end of games when United are behind.

"In 48 games when United were ahead, the average amount of stoppage time was 191.35 seconds. In 12 matches when United were drawing or losing there was an average of 257.17sec."

Now that Man U are not completely favored to win the league, the disparity is even greater:

"The pattern has continued in the first three games of the season. In the two games United have led they have played an average 304sec of injury time. On Sunday, Atkinson allowed the game to go on for 415sec."

At least it was Man City they beat, which is poetic justice given Adebayor's boot on RVP's face and his idiotic celebration in front of the Gunners section in their previous fixture.
